Lowther Hill is quite simply the highest surfaced road of Scotland. There with barrier stipulating his private aspect but as for much British d’ascensions, one can without hesitating to climb en.vélo. Station-radar at the top. Located on the border of South Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway, Lowther Hill gives its name to a range of hills which form part of the Southern Uplands. Located 7miles (11 km) east of Sanquhar, it is the 2nd highest peak within the Lowther Hills, rising to a height of 725m (2378 feet).

« This road soon brings you to Drumlanrig Castle (Scandinavians will pronounce it much better than an Englishman like me), A stately home open to the public and home of Britains largest landowner (his lands are large, not him!) There is also a cycle museum here..
Having sampled the Dukes cafe at the castle, ride down the tree lined avenue and at the end of the long straight take the left road, this is a superbly scenic route with some spendid vievs across the Nith Valley. At the end of this road turn right and this brings you down to a bridge over the Nith Go over the bridge and right onto the busy A76, watch your back on this road, but fortunatly its only for a few miles to the turning for Wanlockhead. If you choose to visit the ancient Borough of Sanqhuar (pronounced "sanker") which boasts the worls oldest post office stay on the other side of the river and come back down on the A76.
The road to Wanlockhead climbs then climbs again, the heather here produces great honey. The village boasts an excellant lead mining museum with a good cafe and the highest bowling green in Scotland.
If you want a real challenge and a thrill, from the top end of the village there is a well surfaced road up to the radar station at the top of lowther hill( the big Golf Balls) as a cyclists you can ignore the barrier and any signs that might claim the road to be private ( if challenged speak in Norwegian!) Its over 700metre at the top, so you may like to leave your bags at the bottom.When you get to the top you come back down the same way, some would say this is pointless but others know better. »

Lowther Hill est tout simplement la plus haute route revêtue d'Ecosse. Avec barrière stipulant son aspect privé mais comme pour beaucoup d’ascensions britanniques, on peut sans hésiter y grimper en vélo. Station-radar au sommet. Placé sur la frontière de Lanarkshire et de Dumfries et de Galloway du sud, la colline de Lowther donne son nom à une gamme des collines qui font partie des montagnes méridionales. Placé 7 milles (11 kilomètres) à l'est de Sanquhar, c'est la 2ème crête la plus élevée dans les collines de Lowther, se levant à une taille de 725m (2378 pieds).

Il y a également un musée de cycle ici. Après avoir prélevé le café de ducs au château, montez en bas de l'avenue rayée par arbre et à l'extrémité de la longue prise droite la route gauche, ceci est un itinéraire superbly scénique avec quelques vievs de spendid à travers la vallée de Nith. À la fin de cette droite et de ceci de tour de route vous apporte avalent à un pont au-dessus du Nith traversent le pont et la droite sur l'A76 occupé, observent votre dos sur cette route, mais fortunatly son seulement quelques milles à la rotation pour Wanlockhead. Si vous choisissez de visiter la ville antique de Sanqhuar (prononcé "sanker") qui revendique le séjour le plus ancien de poste de worls de l'autre côté du fleuve et revenu vers le bas sur l'A76. La route à Wanlockhead monte alors des élever encore, la bruyère ici produit le grand miel. Le village revendique une avance excellant extrayant le musée avec un bon café et le vert de bowling le plus élevé en Ecosse. Si vous voulez un vrai défi et un tressaillement, de l'extrémité supérieure du village il y a une route bien apprêtée jusqu'à la station de radar au dessus du hill(de lowther les grandes boules de golf) car les cyclists vous peuvent ignorer la barrière et tous les signes qui pourraient prétendre la route être privés (si défié parlez dans le Norvégien!) Son 700metre fini au dessus, ainsi vous peut aimer laisser vos sacs au bottom.When que vous obtenez jusqu au dessus vous revenez en bas de la même manière, certains diriez que c'est injustifiée mais d'autres savent mieux "
